Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his future following another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period like this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
