Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in violence and insanity with equal glee, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose projects have represented all of those elements.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by introducing a different backdrop and cast of characters in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the nature of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our mutual bold, daring style to the screen.”

A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
