Spurs Boss Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters" by manager Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of scores in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth top-flight at home defeat of 2025.

But the primary talking point was the visitors' second score when the keeper lost possession well outside his area.

He came out to handle a high pass and took the ball near the sideline.

But, rather than booting it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds afterwards when the ball went to Vicario once more, some Spurs fans jeered him.

The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

One of those jeering episodes truly irritated the manager.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters apparently booed the incident and booed after, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second period showing.

Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role Vicario is playing. He's a great team player, he is a true figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what turned out to be the winning score."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian international the keeper is in his third campaign with Spurs.

He said following the game that he had to take the criticism.

"The second score was a mistake of my own, I accept accountability for it," he commented.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad way. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."

He stated being booed "is part of football".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It is on us to stay more calm, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. This match is a poor defeat and it is tough to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy goal for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second most distant Premier League score of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten seconds passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson striking – which was five seconds after the kick.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the box for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest sparked somewhat.

"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of additional time. After that it was all about attempting to make the correct contact and get it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, the moment it left my foot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Work Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank

While Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an overall bad day for Spurs to extend their home ground struggles.

This was their tenth home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a shared club record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders Liverpool to come prior to the end of the season.

Only one of those wins have come after the manager took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," stated Frank.

"During in a bad spell, everything appears to work against you too – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a place where we have suffered an additional match. Every game has a unique narrative, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and with luck something we can utilize to learn."

Tottenham have lost four straight at home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their poorest averages on record in a single campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must accept the criticism," Murphy said. "He's taken a prestigious role at a major football club with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and duty that comes with that.

"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
