The British player reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from the last two tournaments this season as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the final set against Zhu owing to back discomfort that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 victories this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
